Awesome linework. Fantastic spotting of blacks; Etrigan has real form and weight. The tone of the piece is excellent, and it really suits both the character and the pose. I like how his eyes almost disappear into his head, and can imagine looking at him when he's pissed would be like looking into a void. Beautiful stuff!
seems like some people are on an etrigan trip lately=] The rendering is really wild, with the clean lines on him but the ink work behind him and over his arm in the foreground. What sparked the pose? looks like he's jumping, but the rest of him is pretty calm.....
he could be one of those characters thats at the heart of a interesting crossover..... they have an epic with blackest night..... maybe he could be someone in the middle of something magestic. Maybe something that has to do with when all of the DC characters started showing up with powers and such. Marvel's "powers" age started a little after the Great Depression with Namor's appearance and then WWII, and I think the same goes for DC's appearance of powered figures. Maybe they could make a story that connects Etrigan to that, especially since he has ties to Morrigan Le Fay, who has also tried to affect the big three in the Trinity comic Mark Bagley was drawing..... I still don't get what that series had to do with the DC Universe, but this might be something that could help make sense of that AND the beginnings of the DC universe as we know it.....
who IS the first DC character to appear in time with significant powers?
Well, from what I understand, the DCU "powers" go WAAAAAAYYYY back. They're always messing with time travel and time lines and such, so there's no telling. But yeah I'm with you, a defining look at Etrigan would be a great read. Like I said, keep you ears open
Yeah, surely they could get someone like Neil Gaiman or Frank Miller or Alan Moore some other really good serious comic writer to come in and revamp the character and do a good demonic storyline where Etrigan does some kinda major manipulation to get his way while screwing eveeryone else over in horrible ways. Lotsa twists and double crosses. Something akin to Miller's Crossing, but with more baby eating! He's a friggin' demon after all!
